The Sky is Not as Bright Tonight...

A close family friend sadly passed away today. Dr. Abdallah Askar was a psychiatrist that dedicated his life to better the community. He loved Islam and this is obvious in the beautiful family that survive him (hopefully to be reunited in Janaat Al-Firdous, ameen). May Allah (SWT) grant his family patience in these very hard times, ameen.

Also to be sadly noted, our dear respected sister, Aminah Assilimi passed away in a car accident today. Ina lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji3oon (To God we belong and to Him we shall return). She was always an inspiration to me growing up.

"Oh Allah, forgive and have mercy on them. Excuse and pardon them and make honourable their reception. Expand their entry and cleanse them with water, snow and ice. Purify them from sins as a white robe is purified from dirt. Exchange their homes for better homes, and their families for better families and their spouses for better spouses. Admit them into the Garden, protect them from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire." Ameen.

"Oh Allah, forgive our living and our dead; those present and those absent, our young and our old, our males an our females. Oh Allah, whom amongst us You keep alive, then let such a life be upon Islam, and whom amongst us You take unto Yourself, then let such a death be upon faith."

[Both of these supplications were taken from "Fortress of the Muslim-Inovocations from the Quran and Sunnah" compiled by Sa'eed Ibn 'Ali Ibn Wahf Al-Qahtaani]
